What position should the APU switch be in when moved into the hangar?
Safe position
Why should the tow bar be left attached to the aircraft while in the hangar?
In case of an emergency.
How many pieces of shear pin should be recovered if the pin from the tow bar is sheared and who is exempt from FOD search?
3 pieces and no on is exempt.
What is the procedure when the tow bar separates?
Pulling: driver maintains speed, brake rider stops the aircraft.
Pushing: driver stops, brake rider gradually stops aircraft.
What are 3 precautions that must be followed during high power turns?
- keep landing gear pins installed.
- can not be done on the ramp.
- sonobuoy door must be closed.
What do you look for during a preflight launch?
- grounding wire removed 2. sonobuoy door closed 3. stress panels installed (26 total) 4. landing gear pins removed 5. plugs and covers removed and intakes clear of FOD 6. battery connected 7. APU switch engaged 8. fire bottles pressurized to 500+PSI 9. no leaks
During recovery walk around what do you look for?
- sonobuoy door opened 2. no leaks 3. heck antennas 4. hot brake checks
How many personnel are required when conducting water separation checks and who are they?
- QA, director, FE, TACCO/NAVCOM observer, 2 forward observers, 1 aft observer, 2 AMEs, 2 linemen on SE
How many tie down chains are required for the different wind speeds?
0-45 knots, wet/dry: none
25-45 knots, icy: 4 point tie downs
45-60 knots: eight point tie downs
60-100 knots: 18 point tie downs
