How many people are required to take fuel samples?
Two. Fuel sampler and safety observer.
What PPE is required to take fuel samples?
Splash proof goggles
Chemical resistant gloves
Apron is optional
What is the procedure for contaminated fuel samples?
Take a sample, if contaminated save it, drain one gallon and take a second sample. If the second sample is contaminated, take both to QA and notify MC.
Where do you log the results of completed fuel samples?
In the ADB.
How far from a structure are you allowed to fuel/de-fuel the aircraft?
100 ft minimum
Who can inspect fuel samples?
A qualified aircrew man, shift supervisor, CDI, CDQAR or QAR.
How long are fuel samples good for?
24 hours
If you are the safety observer and the fuel sampler gets fuel in their eyes, what do you do?
Get to the eye wash station immediately, wash eyes for at least 15 mins, notify MC for assistance in getting them to medical, obtain the MSDS from the tool room.
What is the minimum amount of fuel required in the jar?
1/2 a mason jar, 1/2 quart, 1 pint
What is the minimum number of people required to fuel/de-fuel the aircraft?
- One on the ground fueling panel. One in the flight station. One to man the fire bottle and check the tank vents.
What are he maximum fueling and de-fueling pressures?
Fueling: not to exceed 55 PSI
De-fueling: not to exceed -5.5 PSI
What is used to check the tank vents?
Plunger from inside the aircraft.
What should you feel at the end of the plunger when fueling/defueling?
Fueling: feel air blowing out.
Defueling: feel suction.
How is the fuel truck grounded during operation?
Connect the grounding wire from the truck to the same ground as the aircraft. connect another grounding wire from the truck to the aircraft.
An open flame is not permitted how close to the aircraft?
50 feet
