GLU (Glucose)
Increases: Diabetes
Decrease: Liver disease, pancreatic disease, other conditions that lead to collapse, seizure or coma.
AST (Aspartate AminoTransferase)
Increases are associated with liver or muscle damage
CK (Creatine Kinase)
Increases: Muscle damage
CHOL (Cholesterol)
Increases: Metabolic disturbances including: Diabetes, hypothyroidism, Cushing’s disease, pancreatitis and some types of kidney disease.
Decreases: Liver insufficiency and Intestinal diseases.
TRIG (Triglycerides)
Increases: Non-fasting samples. miniature Schnauzers, pancreatitis, diabetes, Cushing’s Disease or Hypothyroidism.
Cortisol
Increases: Cushing’s Disease
Decreases: Addison’s Disease
T4 (Thyroxine)
Increases: Hyperthyroidism (Cat)
Decreases: Hypothyroidism (Dog)
Lactate
Increases: indicate either local or general decreased blood perfusion and can potentially server as a prognostic indicator for the critical patient.
