ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase)
Increases: Seen with liver cell damage
ALKP: (Alkaline Phosphatase)
Increases: Liver abnormality (Cholestasis), Cushing’s Disease, active bone growth in large breed dogs. Active bone remodeling after an injury.
GGT (Gamma Glutamyl Transferase)
Increases: Liver abnormality (Cholestasis: the slowing or stalling of bile flow through your biliary system.)
ALB (Albumin)
Increases: Dehydration.
Decreases: Lower kidney function, blood loss, GI disease, or kidney disease.
TIBL (Total Bilirubin)
Increases: Liver Disease (Cholestasis and insufficiency), types of anemia.
Bile Acids
Increases: in this blood component may be an indication of decreased liver functions.
