Which significant Bible passages are important to this doctrine?
One is Substance, Three in Person
God is one God (Isaiah 46:9-10, 1 Timothy 2:5)
Jesus is God (John 10:30, John 14:9)
HS is God (Acts. 5:3-4)
Equal, distinguishable, each one is always present the other. But not just different roles at different times, 3 Persons of God interacting = (Genesis 1:26-27, Matthew 3:16-17)
Why do we confess that God exists “in three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit?
We see in scripture 3 persons of the Godhead.
Each one is fully God (Jesus is God Matthew 10:30, HS = God, Acts 5:34, Father = God 1 Peter 1:2)
Equal to the others. (Matthew 28:19 Therefore, go a make disciples)
Distinguishable from one another as seen by how they work in the world Father is the sender of the Son, Son is the Redeemer and the Sent (John 3:16), HS =advocate and companion (Romans 1:17)
