Q

TOP OF DESCENT CALCULATION

A

Use three times the aircraft altitude plus or minus 1/3 of the wind to determine an approximate TOD point. (e.g., Aircraft at FL400 with a 90knot tailwind would begin descent at (FL)40 * 3 = 120 + 30(1/3 of wind) = 150 NMS from destination.
