A

using 36 blue slides and 2 confederated, there were two conditions and a control group. in the control there were no confederates, int he the consistent confederate answered green on all of the trails and in the inconsistent condition 2/3 of the trial

Q

Why is Moscivici’s experiment reliable?

13
Q

how did Martin et al investigate the depth of process of a minorities view

A

Martin measured support for a message to create a minority and majority, ppts were then exposed to opposing views and found that people we less willing to change their view to the minority, this means than to change to a minority view deeper processing is needed and therefore it is more likely to lead to internalization

15
Q

why does Moscovici’s experiment have low external validity?

A

the tasks lacked mundane realism, hard to replicated social scenarios in a lab, the groups weren’t representative of real social groups, only female ppts used (less generalisability)

16
Q

why does Moscovici’s experiment have good reliability?

A

it used a standardized procedure

17
Q

what are Clark et al’s criticisms of Moscovici’s experiment?

A

Clark found that when the majority is bigger than 4 the minority looses a lot of it influence, calling into question the extent Moscovici’s finding can be applied

18
Q

What ethical issues were there with Moscovici’s experiment?

A

deception and informed consent

19
Q

what is social cryptomnesia?

A

when people change their opinions on something due to minority influence, but they may have genuinely forgotten or will not admit whom they got the idea from because they don’t want to be associated with that group
