moscovici 1969 procedure
6 ppl (4pps, 2 feds) viewed 36 blue and green slides of different intensities - pps had to state if they were blue or green
one condition feds had to consistently say slides were green
other condition feds had to be incpnsistent
another condition with a control group (no feds)
moscovici 1969 findings
consistent - pps gave wrong answer 8.42% of the time
inconsistent - pps gave wrong answer 1,25% of the time
control - pps gave wrong answer 0.25% of the time
evaluation of minority influence
+the experiment used innovative methods and a well controlled design, allowing for the isolation of minority influence
-involves artificial tasks - low ecological validity
+research showing deeper processing Martin 2007
- counterpoint - martin 2007 just based off numbers but there is more to minority i.e power
+research supporting consistency - meta-analysis and showed all research with a consistent minority experienced social change
-ethical concerns and demand characteristics - pps were not briefed and may have been confused
