GI Bill
Provides for education for veterans.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
Protects the rights of students with disabilities to receive a free and appropriate education that meets their needs.
Title I

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
Reviews representative work of experienced teachers to see if they merit gaining board certification as accomplished teachers.

Policies that compensate for past discrimination of women and minorities.
Response to Intervention (RTI)
Early identification and support for those with learning, and/or behavioral needs. 1st tier- whole group instruction. 2nd tier - small group instruction. 3rd tier - one-on-one instruction.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Protects disabled citizens in society at large.
Eight-Year Study
Compared progressive and traditional education and found that the progressive approach produced more intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and judgement.
National Defense Education Act (NDEA)
Provided federal dollars to improve science, math, engineering, and language arts after the Soviet Union launched Sputnik.
