Q

UK 4 ways to manage migration

A

Ten Pound Poms - Mass migration program of people from UK to Australia meant huge emigration from UK so lowered net migration for UK

1988 immigration act - ensured workers with freedom of movement in EEC could come and work in UK without permission, caused net rise in migration as it was much easier for workers to temporarily/ permanently have residence in UK.

Brexit - UK voting to leave EU caused fall in net migration as there was now more border control and no more free movement of anyone other than UK citizens to the UK and no more free movement of workers within EU.
