Louisiana Territory/Louisiana
NA Purchase
Name of a gigantic land purchase the US made from France doubling the size of the US while T. Jefferson was President. Land the US bought went from Mississippi to Canadian Rockies to Texas
Lewis and Clark Expedition
Meriwether Lewis and Sinclair Clark led a journey of discovery into the Louisiana Territory. The US now had a mapped route to the Pacific, greater knowledge of plants, animals and Native American tribes out west.
Marbury vs. Madison
Landmark (important) Supreme Court case in which the Supreme Court established the principle of judicial review. Judicial review is that the Supreme Court can declare laws unconstitutional.
War of 1812
War between US and England sparked by England forcing US Sailors on trade boats to serve in the British Navy. British troops burned the white house and Lewiston during the war.
Results of the War of 1812
No major results. Nothing that led to the war was resolved and no land was lost by either side.
Reasons for the War of 1812
England forced US Sailors on trade boats to serve in their navy and they supplied Native Americans in Ohio with weapons to fight against the US

Teenage Native american woman who served as a guide and interpreter to Lewis and Clark as they explored the west

Economic policy in which the government is “Hands off” as much as possible
Zebulon Pike
Explorer who traveled and explored the Rocky Mountains in present day Colorado
Expedition
A long journey of exploration and discovery
Pinckney Treaty
Agreement between the US and Spain. It allowed the US to store goods in New Orleans and have access to Mississippi through New Orleans (1795)
