i. Mountains and basins -cotton is the primary resource. Most western part of TX.
ii. Great Plains -Agriculture is the primary resource. (High plains, edwards plateau, llano basin. North western area, TX panhandle area
iii. North Central Plains -ranching is the primary resource (Grand Prairie, cross timbers, rolling plains.) In the north central part of TX.
iv. Coastal Plains - petroleum is the primary resource. Piney Woods, Post Oak Belt, Gulf Coastal Plain, Blackland Prairie, South Texas Plain. On the coast of Gulf of Mexico.

A

Started off as federalist, turned into a Centralist dictator and led the Mexican army against the Texans in the Texas Revolution

Fredonian Rebellion

A

Haden Edwards was issued a Land Grant in 1825. He upset the colonists in the area when he demanded proof of ownership over their land. The Mexican Government cancelled his land contract. Supports of Edwards rebelled and declared themselves the Independent Nation of Freedonia. The Mexican army quickly put down the small rebellion. Mexico began growing suspicious of Anglo-Americans in Texas.

Law of April 6th, 1830

A

a. Based on Mier y Teran’s recommendations, the law did several things.
i. Outlawed Immigration from the United States
ii. Encouraged Immigration from Mexican and European Families
iii. Added Taxes to imported Foreign Goods
b. This angered Texans and they began to distrust the Mexican Government.

Turtle Bayou Resolutions

A

News reached Turtle Bayou that Santa Anna had won a battle in Mexico against Centralist forces. The news heartened the Texans at Turtle Bayou. On June 13, 1832, they met and adopted the Turtle Bayou Resolutions. In these resolutions, or formal statements, they declared their loyalty to Mexico, but not to the Mexican government. The Texans stated their support for Santa Anna and Mexico’s Federalists.
