Midterm 1 - Lecture Only Flashcards
Scientific Method Steps
- Literature Review - Read up oncurrent research of your topic
- Hypothesis - Specific prediction on the outcome of your experiment
- Design & Data Collection
- Analyze Data: Hypothesis supported?
- Publish & Replicate (Amounts in the replications might be altered, or may be identical)
- Build Theory
Confederate

Purposes of psychology
Solve a problem
Answer a scientific question

Research Question
Every study begins with on (or several)
Specific is better than broad
Start specific, then repeat woth variations to eventually encompass a more broad question
Hypothesis

Person’s R
Tells us the correlation value
Ranges from -1 to 1
Unless it’s a bio psych measurement, you will never see a 0.90+ (-0.90 -) correlation
A 0.40 would be considered strong
