The eastern region
A
Turkey plans to build dams to store water and use water in the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates.
This is strongly opposed by Iraq and Syria where reduced water supplies threaten economic development and food production.

The western region
A
Israelis, Syrians, Lebanons etc… Disputing over shrinking water supplies.
Can be argued that security of water was a factor in the 1967 Arab Israeli war but not the whole cause.
Water here comes from the river Jordan and three important aquifers mainly.
