Microscopy
Field of using microscopes to view samples that cannot be seen with the naked eye
Light microscope
Light rays from light under stage are transmitted through two glass lenses, the objective and ocular lens. 1000X. The specimen can be alive
Magnification
Is the scaling up of objects size, is a measure of the degree of enlargement of observable object
Resolution
Is the measure of the clarity of image, can be described as the minimum distance between two distinguishable but seperate points where can be seen OR the shortest distance between two points on a specimen that can still be distinguished by the observer
Total mag
ocular lens x objective
Fov
is the maximum area visible when looking through the microscope eyepiece
Mag and FOV
FOV1 X MAG1= FOV2 V MAG 2
Electron microscope
Electron-beam instead of light and electromagnets instead of lens. Interactions between electrons and objects are recorded on a photographic plate which forms an image on screen. 1000000x . Cant be alive
