microscope calculations and measuring cells Flashcards
1
Q
What do you use to measure cells in a light microscope ?
A
an eyepiece graticule
2
Q
what is a graticule measured as ?
A
10 mm long and 100 sub divisions
3
Q
how do u use a graticule ?
A
- callibrate for a particular objective lens
2.record the calibration results
4
Q
how do u calibrate for a graticule ?
A
use a special microscope stage called a stage micrometer
10 units on the micrometre scale are equivalent too 40 units on the graticule scale so one unit n the micrometre scale equals four units on the graticule scale
divide each unit on graticule scale by each unit on micrometre
5
Q
decribe a typical stage micrometer ?
A
2mm long then split into sub division that are 0.01mm (10 Um)
