19
Q

Focus of image under high power and moving the stage up and down.

A

Coarse adjustment knobs

20
Q

Lower or raise the stage

Used for focus on scanning. Usually, the low power lens is used, enabling the movement of the tube.

A

Coarse adjustment knobs

21
Q

Forming a cone of all the dispersed light rays from the illuminator

A

Condenser

22
Q

Gathers light from the microscope’s light source and concentrate it into a cone of light that illuminates the specimen

A

Condenser

23
Q

Controls the intensity of illuminating light

A

Diaphragm (Iris)

24
Q

Helps in controlling the amount of light that is passing through the opening of the stage

A

Iris diaphragm

25
Q

Magnification of image produced by objective lens

A

Eyepiece (ocular lens)

26
Q

Focus the image when viewing under high power

A

Fine adjustment knobs

27
Q

Used for focusing on high power and oil objectives.

Moves the body tube for focusing when using the high power lens.

A

Fine adjustment knobs

28
Q

Provide high-intensity light at the field aperture

A

Illuminator

29
Q

Reflects light from an external source

A

A

Objective lens

31
Q

Maintains the correct distance between the ocular and objective lens

A

Ocular tube

32
Q

Holds the objective lens.
Its rotation helps to change the power of the objective lens

A

Revolving nose piece

33
Q

Holds the different objective lenses
It allows the rotation of the lenses while viewing

A

Q

FOCUSING SPECIMENS

A
  • Always start with the Scanning Objective
  • Place your specimen in the center of your field of view
  • Use the Coarse Knob to focus.
  • Next, use the Fine knob until clear
  • Once you’ve focused on scanning, switch to Low Power objective using the revolving nosepiece.
  • Repeat steps 3 & 4.
  • Now, switch to High Power.
  • At this point, ONLY use the FINE ADJUSTMENT KNOB to focus specimens.
43
Q

Scanning
Low Power

A

use COARSE and FINE knobs

44
Q

High Power
Oil immersion

A

use FINE knobs
