  • The primary SAR aircraft may be flown locally (taking into account sufficient aircraft hours will remain to conduct SAR mission), but shall remain within a 15-minute recall range;
  • If recalled, the aircrew flying the designated SAR aircraft will remain in the aircraft during the hot refuelling until relieved by the SAR crew (if required); and
  • If not flown, aircraft shall be “B” checked and ready to launch.

CO or Det Comd may waive the requirement to wear immersion suits when the air temp is 23 deg celcius or above and the water temp is between 10-13 deg celcius inclusive, provided that:
1) A/C must be within 30 mins rescue capability of a ship or helicopter with a serviceable rescue hoist; and
2) Radio checks with a Flight Guard are conducted every 15 mins.
