2. Heater and Fan - Off
3. Use portable fire extinguisher
4. If fire continues Land immediately

1. Unnecessary Electrical Equipment - Secure
2. Isolate source
3. Circuit-breaker - Pull
4. If fire continues, proceed as per Fuselage Fire

Hoist Stoppage

Answer 3

1. Cease operating hoist/inform pilot
2. Check utility hydraulic pressure
3. Inspect hoist for possible jam
4. If no jam, carry out inoperative hoist procedure
5. If jammed/suspected jam, carry out jammed hoist procedure

Inoperative hoist

Answer 4

1. Confirm switches and circuit-breakers
2. Attempt to use one of the following alternate hoist controls:
   a. Portable hoist control
   b. Cabin wall rescue switch
   c. Pilot’s hoist control
   d. hoist override valve

Jammed Hoist

Answer 5

1. Clear load in safest manner possible

2. cease hoist operations/secure hoist

Snagged Hoist cable

Answer 6

1. Inform pilot

2. Con aircraft to relieve tension

Rescue Hoist shear

1. Close the cargo door if practicable

2. Call “CUT CUT CUT!” on ICS as cable shear is activated

Hoist load brake failure

Select the hoist control device to either UP or DOWN position to arrest descent

Sonar freefall

Answer 9

1. Inform pilot
2. attempt to stop the free fall by selecting normal RAISE and if necessary AUXILIARY RAISE
3. Sonar Power - Secure

Runaway gun

Answer 10

1. Inform pilot and keep barrel pointed down range
2. Twist belt at the point of entry into the feed tray, breaking it or causing a jam
3. If gun fails to stop, continue pointing down range until all ammunition is expended

NVG Failure

If controlling/conning the aircraft, relinquish control/con and advise the crew of the NVG emergency: “(your position) GOGGLE FAILURE”

GHARS Fail

Indication: Frozen hdg marker on indicator in turn
Rectification: None
Select HDG to ACFT
Antenna aligns to helo’s horizontal axis
Inform Crew of failure
Limited to 10 pitch & 15 roll
TILT can be used to regain radar picture

OFF TUNE the Radar

TX/RX TEST SEL: 9 px rotary switch with meter to monitor circuits
All should read midscale except RCVR VID (at or near full deflection)
On/off tune controls (invokes Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) circuit to OFFTUNE radar by press TEST switch
Should read 10 µAmps more
