MHC I and II Flashcards
How do MHC I and II get to membrane?
MHC I and II pick up unique peptide sequences produced by proteasome or endoscopes and move them to cell membrane
Where is MHC I found?
Present on all cells
What does MHC I present?
Antigens derived from intracellular material that can be found in the cytosol (parts of own proteins, parts of viruses)
What does MHC I activate?
CD8+ve Tc cells - will kill infected cell they got activated by
Where is MHC II found?
On APCs (professional phagocytes) macrophages, dendritic cells etc
WHt does MHC II present?
Presents antigens derived from extracellular material (bacteria, toxins) that has been taken up via phagocytosis
What does MHC II activate?
CD4+ve Th cells
These will activate more macrophages and B cells to clean up infected surrounding of cell
