-Often used for practicing a part of a skill which is causing trouble in performance
-Gain confidence
-Master sub routines
E.g triple jump

Skill is taught without breaking it down into sub routines
-Good of continuous skills and high organsiation
-Improve kinaesthetic feel
E.g Golf swing
Whole-part-whole
Attempting the whole skill, then practising the sub routines and then practising the skill as a whole.
-Great for serial, low organisation
-improve faulty sub-routines
-Improve confitdence
E.g Triple jump
Progressive part
Good for serial, complex, and externally paced skills
-Great for learning new skills
-Learn one one link at a time, then adds next link (Chaining)
