A

objects with dates include- inscriptions on stone, terracota, metal, coins. Documents with dates eg letter, religious texts

Why are coins important for absolute objects?

A
  • provide name of ruler and year of reign.
  • reverse side valuable info such as illustrations of famous monuments, statues and temples or propaganda by rulers
  • date particular events or celebrate indivi.
  • useful if coin found in strata with objects that cant be dated.

pottery is good general guide from shape/decorations
