METABOLIC MARKERS Flashcards
INSULIN (91731)
Helps diagnose hyperinsulinemia in hypoglycemic patients.
INSULIN, INTACT, LC/MS (93103)
With LC/MS/MS measurement of C-peptide, this assay helps evaluate the likelihood of a patient having significant IR.
GLUCOSE (91947)
Diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and evaluation of carb. metabolism.
HEMOGLOBIN A1C (91732)
Assists with control of blood glucose levels.
ADA recommends 2x a year for stable glycemic patients and 4x for poor glucose level patients.
HOMOCYSTEINE (91733)
Elevated concentration of homocysteine is an independent risk factor of CVD.
It is an amino acid.
OMEGACHECK (92701)
Tested on people with hypercholesterolemia, hyperglyceridemia, hypertension and for those high metabolic or CVD risk.
TRIMETHYLAMINE N-OXIDE (TMAO) (94154)
Metabolite produced by gut bacteria. Shown to regulate various physiological processes involved in the development of atherosclerosis.
VITAMIN-D, 25 HYDROXY, LC/MS (91735)
provides a good index of circulating vitamin D activity in patients not suffering from renal disease.
Vit D deficiency can lead to bone diseases such as rickets and osteomalacia. Abnormal levels can lead to hypercalcemia.
SERUM CREATININE w/ eGFR (375)
useful in the evaluation of kidney function and in monitoring renal dialysis.
URINE ALBUMIN-CREATININE RATIO (6517)
Used to detect albuminuria by measuring albumin and creatinine concentrations in a random urine sample and calculate the ACR.
Used to assess kidney damage and prognosis of CKD.
