LIPIDS Flashcards
Total Cholesterol (91717)
Diagnosis of hyperlipoproteinemia, atherosclerosis, hepatic and thyroid diseases
HDL CHOLESTEROL (91719)
Related to risk of CVD. Increases w/ exercise, moderate alcohol intake, and oral estrogen therapy.
Decreased levels linked to obesity, stress, smoking, diabetes mellitus.
HDL = GOOD CHOLESTEROL
TRIGLYCERIDES (91718)
Helps diagnose/treatment of patients w/ diabetes mellitus (high blood glucose), nephrosis, liver obstruction, and others involving lipid metabolism, and endocrine disorders.
Helps assess CAD risk.
LIPID PANEL (91716)
Useful for detecting, classifying, and monitoring patients with hyperlipidemia.
LIPID PANEL W/ REFLEX DIRECT LDL (92061)
Useful in detecting, classifying, and monitoring patient w/ hyperlipidemia.
If triglycerides are >400mg/dl, reflex to direct LDL
DIRECT LDL CHOLESTEROL (91723)
LDL is the “BAD” cholesterol
