Verbal responses, face to face or using video tech
What are questionnaires?
Written responses, conducted in person or can be sent by post or completed online
How data obtained from self-report techniques be analysed?
Question-by-question bases
Combined into single scores like personality tests
What type of data do closed questions normally produce? What is the exception?
Quantitative data due to fixed range of results
Some closed questions can produce qualitative data - yes/no or other category questions
What type of data do open questions normally produce? What is the exception?
Qualitative data due to allowance of free response
Some open questions can give numerical data such as ‘how many times do you…?’ without options
What are 3 types of closed question?
Likert scales - symmetrical scales, converted from words to quantitative scale, eg. strongly agree to strongly disagree
Rating scales - choice of numbers or words
Fixed choice options - choice of categories
