instead of listening dates, you can compare them to one another
it organizes information, it makes it easy to see events in order
it acts as a quick visual reference, you can get a lot of information from a timeline
it shows how closely different events happened to one another
events that appeared closer to one another were more recent to when they happened

- Decide the years you want to cover (What is the earliest and most recent date on the timeline)
- Measure the years out in even spaces
- Include enough years labeled to approximate the dates
- Lastly, add the events in proper location
