includes tapping into others experience, fearing an objective view and passing on knowledge effectively

characteristics of mentoring
Involves 1 to 1 or small group interactions, based on conversation, listening, and non-judgemental advice
Allowing the person to develop - helping them to discover the answer
really good mentoring
Involves two-way communication, clear goals, shared agenda, problem-solving together, and active participation
Always led by the mentee
Not so good mentoring
Characterised by rushed discussions, mentor dominating conversations, lack of plan, trust, or common ground
The mentee does not know what they want

Involves guiding mentees through phases, acting as a facilitator, and supporting their decisions

Requires clarity on expectations, responsibilities, goals, active participation, and follow-up actions

What is forming?
High dependency on the leader for guidance and direction
What is storming?
A lack of agreement which can result in divides and cliques (storm = turbulent)
The leader will coach through the issues
What is norming?
Agreement and consensus forms within the team who respond well to the facilitator/leader
What is performing?
Leader delegates and oversees tasks which are moving towards the goal
