Mental Disorder
An illness that affects the mind and it will reduce a persons ability to a change, r to get along with others in society.
How to recognize mental disorders
Decide if the behaviors, feelings or thoughts are highly unusual and not appropriate to a situation
Anxiety
The fear that is caused by some source you cant identify or the source doesn’t have as much threats as you think.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Displaying intense worry, fears, or anxiety most of their days for at least 6 months.
Signs/Symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Irritability, trouble falling asleep and concentration
Phobias
Anxiety that is related to a specific situation or object. Some include Claustrophobia and arachnophobia
Panic Attack Symptoms
Fast heart rate, rapid breath, fear of suffocation, believes there dying, sweating and more.
Obsession
An unwanted thought or image takes control of the mind
Compulsion
An unreasonable need to behave in a certain way to prevent a feared outcome.
PTSD
People who have suffered a life threatening event or traumatic event
PTSD Signs/Symptoms
Flashbacks, nightmares, problems and avoiding certain trigger situation
Mood Disorder
Experiencing extreme emotions that make it difficult to function in daily lives
Bipolar Disorder
Experiences two extreme emotions that leads to depression
Manic
Overly excited and restless
Depression
An emotional state in which a person feels extremely sad and hopeless
Schizophrenia
Split Mind, identified by severe disturbances the persons thinking, mood, awareness and behavior
Impulsive Control Disorder
Can’t resist the impulse, or the drive, to act in a way that is harmful to themselves or others.
Personality Disorder
Displays patterns of behavior that make it difficult for them to get along with others
Paranoid Personality Disorder
Tend to be cold and distant, cant form close relationships, absorbed in their own thoughts and withdraw from reality.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Overly emotional/unstable, selfish/demanding, put high value on themselves, no value towards others and violent acts without and sense of guilt.
Dependent Personality Disorder
Can’t make decisions, strong need for approval from others, may avoid people for fear of rejection, usually need help from others to take proper care of themselves.
Eating Disorder
Mental disorder that revels itself through abnormal behaviors related to food.
Anorexia Nervosa
People with this will not eat enough to maintain a healthy bod weight.
Symptoms/Signs of Anorexia Nervosa
Slows heart rate and breathing rates, dry skin, lowered body temperature and more
