A steroid hormone that your adrenal glands (kidneys) producer & release.
It helps regulate stress .

Biomarkers for Depression
biomarkers can be potentially useful clinical tools to enhance treatment response for depression.
What Biomarkers can tell us.
- inflammatory,
- neurotransmitter,
- neurotrophic,
- neuroendocrine and
- metabolic systems may be able to predict mental and physical health outcomes in currently depressed individuals
The “Omics Approach”
Can provide a depiction of the different biologic levels at which each of the five systems can be assessed, and the potential sources of markers on which these assessments can be undertaken:
Transcriptomics and Metabolomics - have stood out to be markers when assesing depression.
Proteomic Markers
Proteins have been analyzed within the cell to identify depression including, oxidative stress-related enzymes.
HPA axis Biomarker
Cortisol is the most common HPA biomarker when studying Depression.
HPA Axis
controls reactions to stress and regulates many body processes, including digestion, the immune system, mood
ACT (acceptance, and commitment therapy)
