What is the DSM-V?
guidelines for diagnosing the presence and severity of mental illness and provides information on symptomatology, distinguishing characteristics, and the prognosis
How do we understand causality?
their is stigmatization which is labeling and also the intervention causation fallacy which states that we do not know the biological sources of mental disorders, so their is no true cure
Biopsychosocial Perspective
integrates the biological influence (genetic predisposition) and the psychological influences (low self worth) and the environmental influences (loss, poor)

it includes diathesis which are the genetic factors or predisposition and stress which are environmental factors

assesses effect of the clients culture on the experience, expression, and explanation for the disorder

groups of symptoms from 2 or more disorders that cluster together in specific cultures
