The purpose of assuming capacity
To not stereotype and take away autonomy from an individual unless evidence is given otherwise
The purpose of maximising capacity
To empower the service user and promote independence by giving them autonomy for as long as possible
The purpose of unwise decisions don’t mean a lack of capacity
Service users are able to make unwise decision without being stereotyped and having action taken on assumed capacity
Purpose of decisions being in the service users best interests
Making sure that their care plan is personalised through person centred approach to meet their holistic needs and wishes
Purpose of decisions being the least restrictive option
Promoting empowerment and autonomy ( to maximise their ability and support their rights to the fullest extent )
