What is the hormone profile for the menstrual cycle?
What is the role of Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and how many follicles become viable?
Stimulates follicle growth, one follicle becomes viable
What is the role of leutinizing hormone? (LH)
Stimulates the release of the egg
What is the role of progesterone?
This is released by the corpus luteum and builds up the endometrium
In the absence of fertilisation it degrades to the corpus albicans and menstruation occurs
Where is the oestrogen released from?
The follicle to prepare the endometrium and then the corpus luteum
When is the time period for the highest chance of pregnancy?
two weeks after the first day of your last period
What is the role of oestrodiol?
2 peaks
1 - causes LH surge and prepares uterus
2 - with progesterone as growth hormone for reproductive organs
