What is dysfunctional uterine bleeding?
A
This is heavy menstrual bleeding with no identifiable cause

What is the typical presentation of DUB?
A
- Pre menopausal women with menorrhagia
- Enlongated kappa
- Tired (anaemia from blood loss - microcytic)
- Normal smear
- QOL affected
NO
- intermenstrual bleeding
- dyspaurenia

What is visible on the typical examination?
A
- Pale conjunctiva
- No palpalpable abdo masses
- No cervical excitation
- No adnexal tenderness
- Cusco speculum shows signs of blood but sims speculum normal
- Normal anterverted uterus (may have parous uterus if previous birth)

What investigations would you do for DUB?
A
FBC ?Anaemia
US not neccasary as no lumps felt
If >40 outpatient endometrial biopsy

When would you do an endometrial biopsy?
A
If the patient were over 40

What is the medical treatment for DUB? There are 4
A
- Transexmic Acid - Anti fibrinolytic
- Mifinemic acid - NSAID
- COCP
- GNRH analogues

- Mirena
- Endometrial Ablation
- Hysterectomy
