Memory Items Flashcards
Loss of Braking
Announce ‘loss of braking’
If no braking,
Reverse……… max
Brake pedals………. Release
A/Skid off……….. Order (PF)
A/Skid & NWS…… Select off (PM)
Braking……. Press
Max brake pressure……. 1000psi
If still no braking,
Park brake…… use (short successive applications)
Emergency Descent
Announce ‘emergency descent’
Crew Oxygen masks…… On
Signs…… On
Emergency descent…… Initiate
(PF turn and pull ALT, turn and pull HDG, then pulls SPD)
(PF announces FMA, PM monitors FMA)
If A/thrust not active,
Thrust levers….. Idle
Speed brake…… Full
Stall Recovery
PF announces ‘stall, I have control’
Nose down pitch control….. Apply
Bank….. Wings level
When out of stall,
Thrust….. Increase smoothly as needed
Speed brakes….. Check retracted
Flight path…… Recover smoothly
If in clean config and below 20000ft,
Flap 1….. Select
Stall Recovery at liftoff
PF announces ‘Stall, TOGA 15 degrees’
Thrust…. TOGA
At the same time,
Pitch attitude…. 15 degrees
Bank…. Keep wings level
Unreliable Speed Indication
If the safe conduct of the flight is impacted:
A/P…. Off
A/THR…. Off
F/D…. Off
Pitch/Thrust:
Below Thust Reduction Alt…. TOGA/15 degrees
Above Thrust Reduction Alt and below FL100…. CLB/10 degrees
Above FL100…. CLB/5 degrees
Flaps (if 0,1,2 or 3)…. Maintain current configuration
Flaps (if Full)…. Select Conf 3 and maintain
Speedbrakes…. Check retracted
L/G…. Up
When at or above MSA, or circling altitude, level off for troubleshooting
Unreliable Speed
If the safe conduct of the flight is impacted:
Autopilot…. Off
FD…. Off
A/THR…. Off
Pitch/thrust:
Below thrust red alt…. 15 degrees/TOGA
Above thrust red alt and below fl100…. 10 degrees/CLB
Above thrust re alt and above fl100…. 5 degrees/CLB
Flaps if conf 0 to 3…. Maintain
Flaps if full…. Flap 3
Speed brake…. Check retracted
L/G…. Up
At circuit alt or MSA, level of for troubleshooting
GPWS Warnings
“PULL UP” “TERRAIN AHEAD PULL UP” “OBSTACLE AHEAD PULL UP” “AVOID TERRAIN” “AVOID OBSTACLE”
Simultaneously:
AP…. Off
Pitch…. Pull up (full backstick and maintain)
Thrust levers…. TOGA
Speed brakes lever…. Check retracted
Bank…. Wings level or adjust (can turn if that’s the safest action)
Do not change configuration until clear of obstacle
Terrain/Obstacle Cautions
“TERRAIN TERRAIN” “TOO LOW TERRAIN” “CAUTION TERRAIN” “CAUTION OBSTACLE” “TERRAIN AHEAD” “OBSTACLE AHEAD”
Simultaneously:
AP…. Off
Pitch…. Pull up (full backstick and maintain)
Thrust levers…. TOGA
Speed brake lever…. Check retracted
Bank… maintain wings level or adjust (if turn is safest option)
Do not change configuration until clear of obstacle
All other GPWS cautions
“SINK RATE” TOO LOW GEAR” “TOO LOW FLAPS”
Go Around…. Perform
“GLIDESLOPE”
Go Around…. Consider
If conditions require a deliberate approach below glideslope:
G/S mode…. Off
“DONT SINK”
Flight path…. Adjust (adjust pitch and thrust to silence the alert)
TCAS CAUTION (TA)
If aircraft fitted with AP TCAS:
TCAS mode…. Check armed (PM)
If A/THR is off:
A/THR…. On
For aircraft without AP TCAS:
PF announces “TCAS, I have control”
TCAS WARNING (RA)
If AP TCAS mode is available:
All RA, except CLIMB RA during approach in conf3 or full:
If AP off…. Follow FD orders (AP can be engaged)
Vertical Speed…. Monitor
CLIMB RA on approach in conf3 or full:
Go around…. Perform (TCAS mode disengages, follow SRS)
Vertical Speed…. Monitor (stay out of Red, respect Stall/GPWS/Windshear warnings)
ATC…. Notify
When clear of conflict aural alert sounds:
AP TCAS mode disengages
AP/FD…. Follow/monitor
ATC…. Notify
Lateral/vertical guidance…. Adjust
Speed…. Adjust
If AP TCAS mode not available:
All RA, except CLIMB RA on approach in conf 3 or full:
AP…. Off
FD…. Off
Vertical Speed…. Adjust or maintain
When clear of conflict aural alert sounds:
ATC…. Notify
Vertical and lateral guidance…. Adjust
AP/FD…. As required
Windshear Warning - Reactive Windshear
PFD displays a red WINDSHEAR message and aural alert of Windshear 3 times.
Flightcrew might also suspect Windshear (below 1000ft):
15 knots indicated airspeed
500fpm vertical speed
5 degrees pitch
1 dot displacement from glideslope
Unusual thrust levels for an extended period of time
Actions:
Before takeoff:
If before V1…. Reject takeoff if sufficient runway available
After V1:
Thrust levers…. TOGA
Reaching VR…. Rotate
SRS orders…. Follow (17.5 degrees if no FD, fully back if required)
On approach, initial climb or landing:
Thrust levers at TOGA… set or confirm
AP (if engaged)…. Keep on
SRS orders…. Follow
Do not change configuration until out of Windshear,
Closely monitor flight path and speed,
Recover smoothly to normal climb out of Windshear
