memory: individual differences in authobiographical memory Flashcards
1
Q
individual differences
A
- ltm episodic and semantic memory (Tulving 1972)
- use of case studies of brain-damaged patients gives us important insight into nature of human memory, and relative independence and links between various memory stores and functions
- however, extent of such brain damage and response of individual patients to damage highlights important individual differences between unique cases.
- important to acknowledge that care should be taken when generalising findings of these unique cases to overall understanding of memory in whole population
