Q

The encoding specificity principle (esp)

A

Tulving (1983)
- if a cue is to help us in recall, it has to be present at the time of both encoding and retrieval
- if the cues available at encoding and retrieval are different, forgetting will occur. .

Q

Darley et al (1973)

A

Ppts. Who hid money whilst high were less able to recall where the money was when they were not high.
- when they were high again , they were better able to recall where the had hidden the money .
- supports state- dependent recall.
