A megacity is a city that has a population of over 10 million people.

Megacities have developed over the years to the point where in 2014 there was a total of 28 megacities.
What is the economic influence of a primacy city/world city
Investment, migration and transport are the three possible things that can influence people to go there aside from job offers.
Why might a megacity be popular to most young people (aged 18+)?
They go there for job offers and the universities that has more to offer in megacities.
What might megacities offer to people investment wise.
Business centres are set up and invest in infrastructure and in need of other services around the city, which means job offers from global businesses.
What might megacities offer to people when they migrate?
More jobs = more workers = more migration = more buildings
What are the fundamental pros to having transport in megacities?
More investment and migration makes the city a place of importance with biggest airports, roads and rail links developed as well as other forms of transportation for people more developed.
How might a city rise to become a megacity?
By having over 10 million civilians, the city will have enough people to help it grow economically as they are the source of their finances.
Is London nowadays considered to be a megacity?
London, due to its expanded suburbs and its total of over 15 million is classified as a megacity, one of the most successful ones too.
How would the growth of megacities from 2015 to 2030 be elaborated?
Some parts of the world like Africa and Asia are growing rapidly as they have developed overtime economically as well as its population’s growth, so that in 2030 there will be a total of 44 megacities.
What does urbanisation mean?
Urbanisation is a rise in the percentage of the people living in urban areas compared to rural areas.
What’s the difference between urban and rural?
- Urban areas have human settlements with towns and cities where its more successful and clean.
- Rural could have villages and hamlets where there’s unsupervised waste and few green areas.
Why might there be parts of a megacity that are rural?
A portion of the population could have people living in poor conditions due to unemployment or simply low on income.
How might some countries like Kampala grow in population as a fast growing country, possibly becoming a megacity overtime?
Constant migrations people from rural areas to urban areas made have been because of urbanisation as it happens to poorer countries.
What might urban primacy mean and what might their influences be?
Urban primacy is when one country is dominated by a megacity that has economical influence e.g.
- Higher paid jobs
- International ports
- High number of businesses moved into that city.
