Speech disability ; Brain knows what it wants to say but link to mouth movements doesn’t connect.
For testing accommodations, what should you avoid?
Breaks during test. Just do 100% extended time instead. (Can’t regulate how long the breaks are and students will leave/don’t know what they’re doing)
If memory aids come up in conversation with a student, what should you do?
Show them the memory aid page on SAS MC website = Process of how to get a memory aid
When is it OK to authorize memory aids?
TBI or had it on HS documentation
When sending students their accommodation documentation, what is important to remind the students?
To read the documentation (because they are accountable)
What is important to remind students when it comes to extensions on assignments?
That it’s extensions on assignments, not quizzes.
When looking at Clockwork for upcoming appointments, what does a blue box mean?
Blue box = Zoom apt

House = in-person apt
When you have a Zoom apt, what should you do?
Email + send Zoom link morning of apt day
Are note-taker accommodations available for online classes?
No, because online is self-paced
What is a SAP appeal revolve around?
No financial aid because of GPA
When it comes to saying “no” to students ->
Never say no, say “unfortunately not offered at this time”
Should you always email accommodation letters as an attachment?
Yes, except for note taker. “Email letter” for note taker.
If a student has an IEP from highschool with accommodations on it, what is an important question to ask about that?
If they used those accommodations from highschool often.
IEP vs documentation from a doctor:
IEP is much easier, just go based off of what’s on that and what they used from HS. Doctor documentation -> ask if they have received accommodations before in the past
What is a key piece that is required for a memory aid?
Documentation saying specifically that a memory aid is required. (if there is pushback, politely tell the student that they need documentation from a health care provider)
What should you do if a note-taker does not become available for a student?
GLEAN (anytime during the semester is OK)
