INDICATIONS: Fever, Pain Relief, Acute MI
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Aspirin allergy, Active GI Bleed
SIDE EFFECTS: GI Bleeding, ulcers
DOSAGE: 162-324mg
Aspirin
INDICATIONS: Relief of mild pain or fever, headaches, muscle aches
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity
SIDE EFFECTS: Allergic reaction
DOSAGE: 500-1,000 mg every 4 hours as needed
Acetaminophen
INDICATIONS: most oral poisonings; overdose
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Decreased LOC, overdose of corrosives, caustics, or petroleum
SIDE EFFECTS: nausea/vomiting, constipation, black stools
DOSAGE: 1-2 g/kg
Activated charcoal
INDICATIONS: asthma/difficulty breathing with wheezing
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity, tachycardia, MI
SIDE EFFECTS: Hypertension, tachycardia,anxiety, restlessness
DOSAGE: 1-2 inhalations every 5 minutes as needed
Albuterol
INDICATIONS: mild allergic reactions
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Asthma, glaucoma, pregnancy, hypertension, infancy
SIDE EFFECTS: sleepiness (stimulation in children), dry mouth and throat
DOSAGE: 20-50 mg
Diphenhydramine
INDICATIONS: severe allergic reactions
CONTRAINDICATIONS: MI, hypothermia , hypertension
SIDE EFFECTS: hypertension, tachycardia, anxiety, restlessness
DOSAGE: 1 auto-injector
Epinephrine
INDICATIONS: mild pain or fever, headache, muscle ache
CONTRAINDICATIONS: hypersensitivity
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, bleeding, allergic reactions
DOSAGE: 200-400mg every 4-6 hours
Ibuprofen
INDICATIONS: chest pain due to MI or angina
CONTRAINDICATIONS: hypotension, use of erectile dysfunction drugs within past 24 hours
SIDE EFFECTS: headache, burning under tongue, hypotension, nausea
DOSAGE: 0.3-0.4 mg SL; 0.4mg spray
Nitroglycerin
INDICATIONS: low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
CONTRAINDICATIONS: decreases LOC, nausea, vomiting
SIDE EFFECTS: nausea, vomiting
DOSAGE: 1/2 to 1 tube
Oral glucose
INDICATIONS: hypoxia or suspected hypoxia
CONTRAINDICATIONS: rarely in patients with COPD
SIDE EFFECTS: decreased respiratory effort in patients w/ COPD
DOSAGE: 28%-100%
Oxygen
INDICATIONS: Asthma, COPD, Difficulty breathing with wheezing
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Soy or peanut allergy
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dry mouth
DOSAGE: 1-2 puffs MDI
