Selective Serotonin Reuptake
Inhibitors
SSRI’s

A

• A group of meds that blocks the reuptake of neurotransmitter serotonin.

• Do not mix SSRI’s w/MAOI
• Do not stop taking med abruptly
• Slowly taper off w/ assistance from HCP
• Don’t mix w/OTC cold meds/ triptans, migraine meds and St.John worts

• Rigidity of muscles
• Opthalamic changes
• Tremors/ twitching ( seizures)

- monitor Uric Acid
• Ethambutol (stop RNA synthesis)
- prevents bacteria from reproducing
- reg eye exams
• Rifampin stops RNA polymerase (kills bacteria) changes body fluids to Orange.
• Isoiazid. Kills bacteria stops growth
- decreased vitamin B6
- hepatic toxicity
