A medical condition that existed in the patient before they receive insurance coverage.

When a physician requests that his patient see another doctor for a particular health problem.

A specific amount of money a patient pays for a particular service.
What is a co-insurance?
It Requires that specific percentages of expenses are shared by the patient and insurance company.
What is a deductible?
The amount paid by the patient for medical services before the insurance policy begins to pay.
What is a beneficiary?
The designated person who receives the benefits from an insurance policy.
What is managed care?
The practice of attempting to decrease the cost of healthcare while improving the quality of care.
What are the “preferred provider”?
A Physician, hospital or other health care agency that has an agreement with a PPO to provide services at a discounted rate.
What is preventative care?
Measures taken to prevent disease and injuries rather than curing them or treating symptoms.
What is an insurance premium?
A fee that an individual pays into the insurance company monthly for health insurance.
