What can alter your flora?
Antibiotics, tissue damage, medical procedures, changes in diet, poor hygiene, introduction to new pathogens
What is the first line of defence?
Skin, mucous membranes (secretions)
What is the second line of defence?
White blood cells, anti microbial proteins, inflammatory response
What is the third line of defence?
Lymphocytes and antibodies

Clean contaminated objects, clean, disinfect and sterilize

Avoid talking, sneezing and coughing over an open wound, use a mask if sick,

What are guidelines for patient care contact?
Use gloves when in contact with body fluids or open wounds, wash hands constantly
