Thymus -> phrenic nerve -> right + left vagus nerve -> aortic arch -> trachea -> left recurrent laryngeal -> esophagus -> thoracic duct
What forms left recurrent laryngeal?
Initially it’s vagus -> goes under aortic arch -> left recurrent laryngeal
Whats most likely damaged by thyroid surgery?
left recurrent laryngeal
In anterior mediastinum what can you find?
thymus + lymph + fat
What happens later with thymus?
it becomes fat
Whats in middle mediastinum?
cardiac cavity
Whats in the lower border of inferior mediastinum?
diaphragm
What 2 things found in anterior mediastinum can be found posteriorly?
esophagus + thymus duct
Where does the azygous vein originate?
IVC
What vein is most superficial to mediastinum?
brachiocephalic
What is esophagus relation to heart in inferior mediastinum?
It is posterior to the heart.
What is trachea relation to heart in inferior mediastinum?
it is anterior to the heart
