Most bias will be in the title of an article
What is bias?
Bias is a strong feeling in favor of or against one group of people, or one side in an argument, often not based on fair judgment
What can also be bias
Bias can also be in small words
What’s conservative?
Conservative: financial side, more about money
Liberal?
Liberal: about human rights, animal, environmental issues, human side
What do small details do and why?
Small details add a lot as bias because the description often shows view or perspective
What should you be looking for?
Look for facts versus opinions
Subjective language
Subjective language; there is a gray area of your own idea
What is the article based on if it’s biased?
If it’s biased it’s based on the writers opinion or feelings toward something
What should you look for in words?
Look for opinion words (best, worst, wonderful, love)
What can opinions sound like?
Opinions can often sound like facts
Does it need specific words to be an opinion?
It can be an opinion even without the words “in my opinion” or “I think/believe” and even “need”
What do biased articles also write?
Gullible statements
