Mechanism Of Action Flashcards
1
Q
What’s the mechanism of action for adenosine?
A
Blocks AV node of the heart
Agonist to A1 receptor, inhibits adenylyl cyclase causing reducing cAMP and causing hyperpolarisation
(Half life 8-10sec)
2
Q
What’s the mechanism of action for amlopidine?
A
Blocks calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle and the heart –> reduced contraction/constriction therefore causing dilation of peripheral blood vessels and reducing blood pressure
