Measurement And Data Collection Flashcards
3 Forms of measurement
1.Continuous
-frequency/rate
-duration
-latency
-inter-response time (IRT)
- Discontinuous
-Partial interval
-whole interval
-momentary time sampling - Permanent product recording
Frequency
-the number of times the behavior occurs (also known as count)
-can be converted to a rate (i.e. how many times a behavior occurs in an hour)
Duration
How long client engages in a behavior
Latency
How much time passes between presentation of sD to when learner responds; lapsed time
Inter-response time
Amount of time that elapsed between two consecutive instances of behavior (ex. Crying
Client crying stops > 10 sec (IRT) > crying begins again
Partial interval
Observing whether a behavior occurs with a specific time interval regardless of duration or frequency
Whole interval
Behavior must occur for entire interval to count as an occurance
Momentary time sampling
Observing a behavior at specific intervals instead of continuously
Permanent product recording
Measures result or outcome of Behavior rather than behavior itself (ex. Client completed homework as noted by completed worksheet)
