The purpose of the mayday SOG
To identify the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved at an emergency incident where a mayday has been transmitted
The scope of the mayday SOG
(when the procedure should be utilized)
This procedure is to be utilized by department personnel anytime a member is lost, missing, trapped, or injured and in need of assistance in the hot zone
Definition of a mayday situation
Any situation where a FF is unable to safely exit the hazard zone or any life threatening event that can not be resolved by that individual in 30 seconds or less
How long does an individual have to resolve a situation before they should call a mayday
30 seconds or less
A second definition stated for mayday situation is
Any time when a member believes they are in a life threatening situation they are unable to resolve without assistance
Who can call a mayday when the situation meets one of the definitions
