Maths - Presentation of Quantitative Data Flashcards
What are the different ways to present quantitative data?
Histogram - continuous
Bar chat - discrete
Pie chart - percentage
Scattergraph- correlational
Distributions
Tables
How do tables present data?
The present descriptive statistics of data that has already been calculated
What does a bar chart do?
Show the frequency of discrete data
What does a Scattergraph do?
Shows correlation between co-variables by plotting dots to represent each pair of scores - indicates strength and correlation
What do bar charts show?
The frequency for discrete variables
What does a distribution usually look like?
A bell shaped curve that is symmetrical
Where is the mode on a distribution?
The highest point on the graph
Where is the median in a distribution?
Always the middle of the graph
Where is the mean pulled in a positively skewed distribution?
To the right
Where is the mean pulled in a negatively skewed distribution?
To the left
