A
Middle ear infection leads to destruction of air cells in the mastoid bone +/- abscess formation.

Fever, tenderness, swelling and redness on mastoid process.

Urgent ENT review and admission

What is the management for mastoiditis?
A
- IV antibiotics
2. Surgical mastoidectomy (removes diseased cells) + tympanoplasty (surgical repair of tympanic membrane and ossicles)
