What is a cholesteatoma?

A

Non-cancerous growth of keratinising squamous epithelium that are ‘trapped’ within the skull base causing local destruction.

  1. Otoscopy - ‘attic crust’ on pars flaccida

2. MRI/CT of temporal bone
